Unified musical evening of Amritsar and Lahore

Both India and Pakistan have their separate Punjab provinces but the regions unified culture remain etched among people on both sides of the border.

Amritsar, Oct 28 : Both India and Pakistan have their separate Punjab provinces but the regions' unified culture remain etched among people on both sides of the border.

On Saturday evening, a musical show in Amritsar tried to showcase this beauty of the region.

The musical homogeneity of Amritsar and Lahore came alive by resplendent performances of Pakistan's Surriya Khanum and India's Lakhwinder Wadali.

Khanum, who is a Sufi singer, mesmerized everyone with her traditional folk and Sufi singing. Wadali on the other hand performed a fine blend of classical and contemporary music, with his foot tapping bhangra uplifting everyone's soul.

The musical evening was part of 'Saanjh', a musical festival co-organised by Manveen Sandhu and Faizaan Peerzada with the aim of sharing the joy of the arts from both sides of Punjab, ranging from sufi, folk, classical music to theatre which are all performed mostly in Punjabi language.

Saanjh also helps in bringing the people of both countries together and provides platform for meaningful interaction with thought provoking discussions.
