Separatist groups in Kashmir observed Black Day today to protest against the armys presence in the valley.
Srinagar, Oct 27 : Separatist groups in Kashmir observed 'Black Day' today to protest against the army's presence in the valley.
They called for a shutdown on both sides of the LoC (Line of Control).
Both factions of the hardline Hurriyat Conference as well as Kashmiri leaders and the Bar association had called for the shutdown, to garner international community's attention towards the unresolved issue of Kashmir.
Hilal War, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Realistic Front (JKRF), demanded that the troops leave the valley.
"We are against the Indian army occupation here. Every nook and corner shows a negative response. We say, as soon as possible, they should leave us alone," War said.
The residents say that they were frustrated by the violence in the region.
"The strike is to protest the presence of Indian army here," said Haqnawaz.
