New Delhi, Oct 26 : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today flagged off a chariot procession from his residence to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Balmiki (a Hindu scholar, saint and writer of Ramayana).
Addressing the members of Balmiki Society, Singh said that India should follow the teachings of Balmiki for prosperous future.
"I wish that from now onward we will follow the teachings of Balmiki and gain inspiration from his life to make India a prosperous and powerful nation," added Singh.
On this occasion, functions were organised by various groups and political parties across the nation.
