Indore, Oct.26 : Creativity knows no bounds. Subhash Bonde of Indore is out to prove this point by using the commonplace household broom to create art pieces.

Subhash uses soft broom and its sticks according to their various shades for creating different shapes of Hindu Gods, especially, Lord Ganesha. At times, he uses wooden sticks, leaves and sand to decorate it.

He has crafted women including faces and eye -- all by using broom's different portions and pasting them on a canvas. Besides, he has also made many showpieces.

"People use brooms all the time but seldom pay any notice to its different use. There are so many natural colours hidden in a broom. I thought different ways of utilising them to create art and experiment with it," said Subhash Bonde.

Subash spent his early childhood in his village where he used to make clay toys . Later, he was motivated to try different materials after being encouraged by his wife.

She took over Subhash's responsibilities to run the cyber caf‚ owned by Subash. It allowed him enough time to focus on developing his art.

He is presently working on Lord Ganesha , a Couple in love and Holy Cross themes."It is because of my wife's encouragement that I tried the broom," he said.

Subhash was earlier employed in the municipal corporation in Aurangabad in Maharashtra, where workers would often visit him carrying their brooms. It always made him feel that the brooms can also be used as a piece of art.

Subhash says that he created a number of paintings, most of which he gifted to his family and friends. Today, having devoted seven years to his special broomstick art, he wants to put up an exhibition of his artwork.
