Idea Cellular Limited: Consolidated Q2 Results-Revenue Rs 15643 mn, EBITDA Rs 5128 mn, PAT Rs 2203 mn

Idea Cellular Limited (Idea) today announced its unaudited results (limited review) for the second quarter and half year ended September 30, 2007.

Idea ended the quarter with a subscriber base of 18.67 mn, adding 2.55 mn subscribers during the quarter. The Company is awaiting allocation of spectrum to launch operations in the Mumbai and Bihar service areas. In its current 11 service areas of operation, Idea increased its subscriber market share from 15.4% at the end of June 07, to 15.6% at the end of Sep 07.

The consolidated revenues for the quarter ended Sep 30, 2007 of Rs. 15643 mn grew by 54%, and EBITDA of Rs. 5128 mn grew by 43%, on a year on year basis. The net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2007 was Rs 2203 mn, a growth of 100% over the same quarter last year.

The consolidated revenues grew by 6% when compared to the previous quarter ended June 07, while EBITDA was roughly unchanged.

Note: Figures for past periods have been regrouped. Finance & Treasury charges represent Interest & Financing cost net of investment income and forex gains/losses.
