New Delhi, Oct 24 : Vice President Hamid Ansari will inaugurate an intensive programme for Indian Origin Parliamentarians here today.
Public Diplomacy Division of the Ministry of External Affairs is organising the event with a view to providing comprehensive presentations on different aspects on issues of concern and interest to the country.
The objective behind such a programme is to provide the visiting Parliamentarians with up-to-date and detailed information on a canopic range of issues.
The first group comprises 16 Parliamentarians from United Kingdom, the European Parliament and the United States of America.
The list of the Parliamentarians are - from United Kingdom - Lord Bhiku Parekh (Labour), The Rt. Hon. Keith Vaz (Labour), Lord Adam Patel (Labour), Baroness Sandip Verma (Conservative), Lord Mohammed Sheikh (Conservative), Lord Narendra Babubhai Patel (Crossbench), Baroness Usha Prashar (Crossbench), Lord Kamlesh Patel (Crossbench), Lord Karan Bilimoria (Crossbench), Lord Navnit Dholakia (Libdem), Lord Diljit Rana (Crossbench), The Rt. Hon. Virender K. Sharma, MP; from European Parliament - Hon. Ms. Neena Gill, Hon. Mr. David Geerts and Hon. Mr. Claude Moraes; and from United States Of America - Hon. Swati Dandekar.
The Parliamentarians will call on External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on October 26. They will also participate in Indo-US CEO Forum which will be inaugurated by Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on October 29 in Mumbai.
