Ahmedabad, Oct 2 : A 58-year old follower of Mahatma Gandhi has been spreading the teachings of Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, for last ten years on his bicycle in Ahmedabad.
For Pravin Patel, the day commences with a bicycle ride around the city, playing Gandhi's favourite hymns on his bicycle to spread the message of peace and harmony.
Through his efforts Patel is trying to make the young generation aware of Gandhian values.
An employee of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), he has been pedalling around the city, covering a distance of 30 kilometers daily for the past ten years.
"Violence has increased manifolds in our country. So, through these songs, I want to spread the message of non-violence. I want to propagate the message of harmony and peace amongst all," said Patel.
Mahatma Gandhi's message of non-violence, uprightness and care for the leprosy patients is taught in every school.
He has inspired leaders like exiled Tibetan leader Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela, who led a movement against apartheid policies of racial segregation in South Africa.
Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 in Porbandar.
