India's premier Mobile and Online social networking portal Indyarocks.com today announced first of its kind Online short film festival. This online short film festival is aimed at helping professional and amateur short film makers across India to reach out to a larger audience. The festival will be conducted from Oct 18th to Dec 15th. Nikhil Acharya, a well known and upcoming short film maker, will be the festival director.
The duration of the film submitted should be between 1-10 minutes. Film enthusiasts can shoot films using their digital cameras, camcorders, or even their cell phones. There are 4 categories under which the films can be submitted - Fiction/Experimental, Documentary, Animation and Mobile. There will be a special Viewers choice award and six Jury awards.
Dr. Vishnu, Head of Strategy, Indyarocks, said "There is a huge amount of digital content that gets created in the offline world and it usually never gets the kind of audience it deserves. Indyarocks film festival gives an opportunity to everyone to display their creativity not only to their family and friends but a whole new audience across the world."
Short films are an under-appreciated and under-exposed art in India and Indyarocks wants to be an advocate for the short film world. "Indyarocks has consistently added new features in its platform to expand its popularity and attract Indians across the globe. The 2 month Online Short film festival is one such an important initiative" said Kalyan Manyam, Head of India operations.
