Imphal, Oct 18 : Flash floods caused by the breaching of the Imphal River in Manipur's Imphal West District, has inundated thousands of houses and large paddy fields.
The Imphal River is flowing above the danger mark for the past four days due to unseasonal rains.
Embankments were breached at Kiyangei and Irong Cheisaba, flooding several surrounding villages.
Those affected by the floods are being evacuated to safer places and relief material is being provided.
This is the second major flood in Manipur in the last two months.
