Hyderabad... 17 October 2007: Campus Rock Idols, India's largest inter-collegiate rock music competition is all set for the fourth edition of "Hero Honda Motorola Campus Rock Idols™". The annual independent competition for amateur bands at the campus level, in this fourth consecutive year, offers an ultimate experience for bands to perform on a professional, technical and a much evolved production offering. The Campus Rock Idols Tour 2007 will be held across 10 cities in India over a period of 2-months. Commencing on 27th October 2007 at Hyderabad, the competition culminates with a grand finale in Delhi on 2nd December 2007.

The jury comprising of senior representatives from the music industry will shortlist the winners at the respective cities. All participating members must be bona fide college students. They are required to attach a copy of their ID cards with the entry forms. Members of the band must be less than 25 yrs of age as on 25th Oct 2007. A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 members can be a part of a band. Entry forms are being distributed at various campuses. Alternatively, aspiring amateur bands at the campus level can log on to www.campusrockidols.in or www.dnanetworks.com to register for the competition.

The Regional selection in Hyderabad will begin on 27th October 2007. The top two winning bands from the Regional selections will compete with other bands in the South Zone Finals to be held in Manipal. On completion of the regional events, the chosen bands will be provided with travel and accommodation for the Zonal Finals. The top two bands from each zone will compete in the Grand Finals. The Zonal Finals for the other zones will be held at Kolkata, Pune & Delhi.

The winning band gets a cash prize of Rs 75,000, the first runner up Rs 50,000 and second runner up Rs 25,000 as prize money. This year's winners will get once-in-a-lifetime debut opportunity to perform alongside an International Rock Iconic artist who is promoted by DNA Networks.

Campus Rock Idol aims to promote music and support to deserving bands. The event offers great international exposure to the winning band. The concept is catching on fast since its inception; CRI has seen a steady rise with regard to awareness & participation among College rock bands. This competition has made many bands famous by giving them opportunities to perform not only at the national level but also internationally.

The regional events will commence on 27th October 2007 in Hyderabad and Jaipur followed by Bangalore, Chandigarh, Shillong, Manipal, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Pune & Delhi respectively. The South Zone comprises of Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Manipal for the music fest while the West Zone encompasses Pune and Ahmedabad. Jaipur, Delhi and Chandigarh form the cities in the North Zone and In the East Zone, the event will be organised in Kolkata and Shillong.

Venkat Vardhan, MD, DNA Networks says "Campus Rock Idol initially got a few hundreds of entrants and over the years has progressed to an astonishing 300 bands as it is now an annual event to look forward to. This event has given and continues to give a platform to the upcoming bands to showcase their talent and take the music world by a storm. Each year the number of applications has increased as the winners get an once in a lifetime opportunity to perform with an international band thus taking them a step closer to being internationally renowned." India's first ever Rock Festival is sure to entice fans from all across the country. This Festival comes at an opportune time when the music industry is witnessing a revival of the Rock and Metal musical genres.
