Known for its scenic beauty, Sanasar, 119 kilometres from Jammu, is being developed as a major destination for adventure tourism and draw maximum tourists from across the country and abroad.

Jammu, Oct.14 : Known for its scenic beauty, Sanasar, 119 kilometres from Jammu, is being developed as a major destination for adventure tourism and draw maximum tourists from across the country and abroad.

Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation is taking initiatives to strengthen the required infrastructure to promote this place for adventure sports. It is hoped that with the help of overwhelming response from the youth, the adventure sports in Jammu and Kashmir would regain its past glory.

Sanasar has been viewed an ideal spot for adventure pursuits like skiing, river rafting, trekking and camping, rock climbing, rappelling, paragliding and other related sports.

The location is said to ideal for paragliding, because of favourable breeze, which is said to be perfect in speed and direction-wise, giving ample thrills to the gliding enthusiast.

"By organising these types of sports, it gives boast to the Jammu also as more and more tourists come here. This is the first time that adventure sports is being organised here other than Gulmarg and Pahalgam. It can be a good place for adventure sports as many things can be done here like paragliding, trekking and many more things," said Amar Pal Singh, Instructor.

The different disciplines in adventure sports are attracting boys and girls.

"These types of sports camp generate awareness about different type of sports, especially over here, which many people are unaware of," said Neha, one of the participants.

"From our hectic life we should take out some time and come here to and enjoy the adventure sports. It is very nice," said R.P.Singh, another participant.

Besides, good training facilities with able instructors have further boosted the prospects of even physically-handicapped enthusiasts can find Sanasar as an ideal destination for holidays.

Recently, a group of students with hearing and speech disabilities from the valley tried various events at Sanasar.

Tourists from other States are keen to come to Sanasar.

"I have come from Madhya Pradesh and I really find it amazing. I was not expecting it to be so good. Actually, it is beyond my expectation. I am enjoying here very much," said Dalveer Singh, adventure sports enthusiast from Madhya Pradesh.

Sanasar is only 17 kilometres from Patnitop. It is cup-shaped meadow surrounded by gigantic conifers. A place for a quite holiday, the meadow is also a favourite of golfers.
