Blueline bus drivers go on indefinite strike in Delhi

Blueline bus drivers in Delhi went on an indefinite strike on Monday in protest against the stringent stand taken by the Government of Delhi in the wake of the recent spate of accidents precipitated on Delhi roads by Blueline buses.

New Delhi, Oct 15 : Blueline bus drivers in Delhi went on an indefinite strike on Monday in protest against the stringent stand taken by the Government of Delhi in the wake of the recent spate of accidents precipitated on Delhi roads by Blueline buses.

Blueline bus drivers claimed that they were being victimised. They also warned the authorities that the strike would not be called off till their demands were met.

Delhi's Chief Minister, Shiela Dixit, however, ruled it out, saying that strict action would be taken against them if they continued with their strike.

The High Court had recently asked the government to explain its stand and tell the court of the measures that the government planned to take to solve the problem. The deadline given by the court is November 15.

Shiela Dixit also said that at least 4000 buses would be introduced on Delhi roads in the next two years to solve the transport problem, which had hit the commuters badly.

This was after a couple of recent accidents on Delhi roads by Blueline buses which claimed nine lives in three separate accidents.
