New Delhi, Oct 1 : The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved additional expenditure of Rs.277 crores for the ongoing projects under the Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme (IIUS).
Six new projects for industrial clusters located in industrially less developed States were also approved.
Launched in 2003, IIUS aims to provide quality infrastructure through public-private partnership in select industrial clusters. This scheme targets such industrial clusters, which have potential for high growth but require assistance for up-gradation of existing infrastructure. So far 26 projects entailing a central grant of Rs.952.10 crores have been sanctioned under the IIUS. Till March 31, 2007, Rs.579.10 crore has been released as central grant to various Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).
The CCEA today also gave its approval to enlarge the scope of Phase 'A' to cover improvements and construction of an additional 994 km roads, which adds up to a total of 2,304 km under modified Phase 'A' of Special Accelerated Road Development Programme For North Eastern Region (SARDP - NE).
Implementation of the additional length of 994 km under Phase 'A' and undertaking for 4-laning of 330 km NH 44 in Tripura were also given approval.
The CCEA gave its approval for inclusion of peripheral towns of Panchkula and SAS Nagar in Mohali in the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) city of Chandigarh, as these towns are entirely in continuum to Chandigarh and in fact, are spill over of the growth of Chandigarh.
Naya Raipur, a satellite city, will be included in the urban agglomeration of Chhatisgarh State Capital, Raipur, so that simultaneous cohesive development of Naya Raipur, alongwith existing city of Raipur, is possible. Presently, total area of Naya Raipur comprises 41 villages.
The CCEA approved Inclusion Of Mono Ammonium Phosphate (MAP) of grade 11:52:00 under the concession scheme for decontrolled fertilizers.
