Rajasthan Home Minister to grace Lord Shantinath, a new Jain temple installation in city

The Jain Community in twin cities constructed a new Temple 'Lord Shantinath' at Tarlagadda in Karwan.

Hyderabad, November 30...: The Jain Community in twin cities constructed a new Temple "Lord Shantinath" at Tarlagadda in Karwan. The deity of one of the 24 thirthankars of Jainism will be formally installed on 6th December by Jain monk His Holiness Sri Mani Prabha Sagar Ji Maharaj who has come all the way from Kesariyaji in Rajasthan on foot by walking a distance of 1500 Kms along with his disciples, informed Mr. Surender Luniya addressing a press conference here in city today. Mr. Gulabchand Kataria, Home Minister of Rajasthan will grace the function. The new temple comes up in an area of 9 acres of land adjacent to a 200 years old existing Dadiwadi Temple, work of which has been going on for the past 2 years by 70 plus artisans from Sompura in Rajasthan. The celebrations of the installation of the deity will start from December 2nd and will end on December 7.

The temple is embellished with beautiful images of Thirthankaras. The wonderful carvings of the temple are painstakingly designed by skilful artisans who have been working day and night for the past two years. Few carvings are done at Rajasthan and rest of the work is done here in city. It is the collective contribution of 50,000 Jain Shwethamber community in twin cities. Mr. Mahender Baid is the man behind this project because of whose efforts the temple has taken a shape of what it is today.

Eighty percent construction of the temple and carving work is over. Lord Shantinath is the 16th tirthankar. There are idols of other tirthankars too. The grandeur of the idol of Shantinath is very attractive and has its own special place of importance. The temple is also a matchless specimen of art and architecture. The idols of the God here are attractive and of very high level sculpture.

Jain devotees from different parts of the country are expected to join the celebration and installation of the deity.

The state of Andhra Pradesh has many Jain temples such as Amaravati Jain Teerth temple of Shri Padmaprabhu Bhagwan in Alirajpur village. This temple is about 2000 years old. Gudivada JainTeerth temple of Shri Parshwanatha Bhagwan is located in Gudivada village in Vijayawada - Machilipatnam route in Krishna district. The idol of the temple is said to be very old, belonging to the 8th century period. Shree Kulpakji Jain Temple the black-colored idol of Lord Bhagawan Adishvar, The Bhagwan Mahaveer 24th tirthankar idol is in Green Zed, a precious stone and this idol has no comparison in the whole world. And is said to belong to the 12 century AD and is a very attractive and unique of its kind. Jain Mandir, Warangal is the 2,000-year-old Jain temple of Lord Mahaveer and is a famous place of worship for Jains in the country.

The Jains have played a very important role in the society and contributed a lot. They are known for their charity works. The moral and intellectual influence of the Jain communities gives them a social importance greater than it would result from their mere numbers. They are not only among the businessmen and industrialists, many of the prominent authors, justices, administrators and politicians belong to the Jain community.

The Jains have the highest literacy rate and they enjoy the highest per capita income in India.
