The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for moving official amendments in the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Bill, 2007 in Lok Sabha.
New Delhi, Nov 30 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for moving official amendments in the 'Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Bill, 2007' in Lok Sabha.
The Bill will provide effective care and protection to the senior citizens and provide speedy and inexpensive legal framework to grant maintenance to them.
The Bill proposes to cast an obligation on the persons who inherit the property of aged relatives to maintain such aged relatives and also proposes to make provisions for setting up old age homes for providing maintenance to indigent holder persons.
It further proposes to provide better medical facilities to senior citizens and make provision for protecting their lives and property.
