Samsung launches its first open market CDMA Phone - Samsung MAX

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a global leader in the mobile phone industry, announced the launch of its first open market phone in the CDMA segment, Samsung MAX

Hyderabad, November 29, 2007- Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., a global leader in the mobile phone industry, announced the launch of its first open market phone in the CDMA segment, Samsung MAX.

The sleek slider Samsung Max is launched through company's own distribution network and will be available to both Tata Indicom and Reliance Mobile subscribers. Until now Samsung offered CDMA phones exclusively on either Tata Indicom or Reliance Mobile Networks.

With the launch of Max, Samsung aims to cater the growing CDMA market where consumers want to upgrade. Its availability in to the open market will further empower CDMA consumers to choose the operators of their choice.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Hyunbai Kim, Vice President & Head - CDMA Division, Samsung Telecommunications India Pvt. Ltd., said, "We expect to fuel the growth of the Indian CDMA industry through the launch Samsung Max in the open market. Fully feature loaded Samsung Max is launched to serve the Multimedia needs of the CDMA consumer. "

He further added that "the availability of CDMA phones in the open market will provide Indian consumers freedom to choose network operator's of their choice".

Samsung Max is complete multimedia phone localized to suit Indian needs. Some of the key Indian features are Indian Calendar, Panchang, Mobile Prayer, Cricket Scorer, and Hinglish SMS.

Max also includes the innovative security features like Mobile Tracker and SOS alert. The phone also has some additional security features like call lock which restricts others from receiving or making calls from the handset.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Dinesh Sharma, Marketing Head - CDMA Division, Samsung Telecommunications India Pvt. Ltd., said "Samsung aims to roll out Max through open market distribution in a phase wise manner. Currently, Max will be available in Delhi and Mumbai only, but by December 2007 it will be available in several other large cities.
