Bhiwani, Nov 28 : UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi today expressed concern over the declining sex ratio in Punjab and Haryana, and urged the youth and women to come ahead to improve it.

"The women in Haryana are brave. We are proud of them. However, I feel sad when I hear about female foeticide. The youth and women must take it as a challenge so that the sex ratio in the state is improved and there are more women than men in the state," said Sonia while addressing a public rally here to mark the birth anniversary of former state Agriculture Minister Surender Singh.

Sonia also said that the farmers of the state are feeding the country. The Central Government has raised the minimum support price (MSP) of paddy and wheat to express its gratitude for them.

She launched the Road Infrastructure Development Programme by laying the foundation stones of remodelling and widening of Dadri-Chhuchhakwas-Jhajjar Road.
