New Delhi, Nov 27 : A cultural week showcasing exhibits from member countries of the European Union (EU) drew hordes of curious onlookers, ahead of the EU-India Summit starting from November 30.
The aim of the exhibition was to provide a glimpse into the different cultures of the EU member countries to the Indians.
Speaking on the occasion, European Union Ambassador in India Daniele Smadjasaid said the exhibition aimed to promote people-to-people links.
"Developing inter-cultural links is today extremely important because this is a way also to promote peace, security and stability and, of course, to promote people-to-people links. This is why I am happy that we have put together, with all the European Union member states, this exhibition," she said.
"I hope that going around this gallery, people of India, or the people in New Delhi will have an idea of all the different culture and diversity that can be found in European Union," she added.
Comprising 27 countries and around 490 million people, European Union is a family of democratic European countries committed to working together for peace and prosperity.
It deals with a wide range of issues of direct importance to the everyday lives of people.
