Allahabad, Nov 26 : The stationary Nauchandi Express caught fire at the Allahabad railway junction today afternoon.
The fire broke out around 12:30 pm in a compartment when the train coming from Saharanpur arrived at platform number 8.
The fire was initially doused with buckets of water, till the fire engines arrived at the spot.
Deepak Dave, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) said that the fire was extinguished within half an hour.
There are no reports of any injuries to passengers or the fire personnel involved in extinguishing the blaze. A sleeper class bogey was partly damaged.
Initially, there was a fear that it was a terror attack resulting in chaos. But as the blaze was doused, the situation calmed.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
