New Delhi, Nov 26 : The Union Government is considering a scheme for the relief and rehabilitation of rape victims under which a maximum compensation of Rs. 2 lakh will be given to the victims.
This was disclosed by Women and Child Development Minister Renuka Chowdhury in the Rajya Sabha today.The Ministry of Women and Child Development has suggested an outlay of Rs. 201 crore for the scheme in the 11th Plan.
Chowdhury said that the proposal for approval of the scheme by Expenditure Finance Committee is now under finalisation.
