Imphal, Nov 19 : Manipur Police shot dead a suspected militant in an encounter here on Sunday night.
Police said three militants who were escaping during a combing operation opened fire at the police in Imphal bazaar area. The police fired back in which a militant was killed. Two others managed to escape.
"One militant was killed in the encounter and the other two fled," said Jhalajit Singh, Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Imphal West District.
According to police, the suspects belonged to Kangleipak Communist Party (Military Council) (KCP-MC) or People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak, Manipur (PREPAK).
