New Delhi, Nov 16 : Newly appointed Karnataka Chief Minister B. S.Yeddiyurappa today met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi.
Terming the meeting a "courtesy call," Yeddiyurappa told reporters that the Prime Minister assured him of full support of the Central Government in the development of Karnataka.
"He assured me in the development of Karnataka. He is going to give all support. The Governor of Karnataka has summoned the assembly session on November 19. After winning the vote of confidence, I have told the Prime Minister that I would come and meet him," said Yeddiyurappa.
The Yeddiyurappa-led BJP- Janata Dal (Secular) government will prove its majority in the state assembly on Monday. Ahead of that, the coalition partners are all set to deliberate on a 'memorandum of understanding' outlining the guidelines to share power.
It is expected that the signing of the MoU will take place on Sunday.
Eighteen Ministers belonging to the coalition partner JD (S), including the deputy Chief Minister, will take oath after the government wins a vote of confidence.
Yeddiyurappa was sworn-in as Chief Minister of Karnataka on November 12, becoming the first BJP leader to head a government in south India.
Karnataka was placed under President's rule on October 9 and the state legislature was suspended after BJP and JD (S), which headed the coalition government, locked horns over power swap for the Chief Minister's post for the next 20 months.
The JD (S) made an about turn on transfer of power agreement, but a fortnight later patched up with the BJP, which staked claim to form the government on October 27.
The Union Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs took the decision to revoke President's rule in the state last week.
