Karat shown black flags by BJP activists in Indore

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Karat was shown black flags by activists of the youth wing of Bharatiya Janta Party on his arrival in Indore on Thursday.

Indore (MP), Nov 15 : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Karat was shown black flags by activists of the youth wing of Bharatiya Janta Party on his arrival in Indore on Thursday.

The activists were protesting against the West Bengal's Government decision to involve Indonesia's Saleem Group in the infrastructure development in the State, and it comes close on the heels of violent takeover of Nandigram by CPI (M) cadres.

The police had to baton charge the protestors today as they blocked roads and shouted slogans against the CPI (M) leader.

"A part of our motherland has been given as collateral to Indonesia's Saleem group. That's why we protested against Prakash Karat on his arrival by showing black flags," said Mahesh Joshi, BJP youth wing activist.

Meanwhile, police officials claimed that they had driven away the protestors and the situation was completely under control.

"There were attempts to disrupt it (Left leader's meeting with his party members). He was shown black flags. We drove away the protestors and the situation is under control," said Jayant Rathore, Station House Officer, Tukoganj.

Karat, who is here to attend the three-day 12th Madhya Pradesh Plenum, will be discussing socio-economic and political conditions of Madhya Pradesh.
