New Delhi, Nov 14 : President Pratibha Patil will inaugurate the 27th India International Trade Fair (IITF) 2007 at Pragati Maidan here today.
Commerce and Industry Minister Kamal Nath will preside and address at the function.
The fair is being organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), which is a mega celebration of the new India that is fast taking shape.
This year the theme of the fair is "Processed Food and Agro-Industries".
The fair will showcase participation of several countries - Afghanistan, Belarus, hutan, Brazil, China, Egypt, Iran, Korea, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, outh Africa (free state province), Tanzania, Thailand, Vietnam and Maldives. The fair will also witness international exhibitors participation from 23 countries - Australia, Beligum, Germany, Holland, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Myanmar, Oman, Phillipines, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Suriname, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, UAE, U.K, USA and Syria. Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur eghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Uttrakhand are some of the states which will participate in the fair. Besides, Union Territories - Goa, Lakshdweep, Chandigarh, Andman and Nicobar and Pondicherry will also take part in the fair.
In 2006, the fair attracted more than 7,500 Indian companies and 350 overseas companies from 34 countries. Over 3,00,000 business visitors and three million general visitors visited the fourteen-day event.
The 2007 edition is expected to have more participation and greater response.
The IITF has been playing a crucial role in accelerating the growth of business as well as brand building by establishing a common platform for the trading community from across the world concerning varied sectors.
A meeting ground for businessmen, technocrats, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, exporters, suppliers, importers, distributors, service providers amongst others worldwide, each edition of the fair turned out to be more successful than the preceding fair.
Ever since its inception in 1980, this mega-event has evolved into Asia's largest show of its kind. It provides a window to the broad spectrum of industrial progress set in the global background.
