New Delhi, May 8 : The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Tuesday welcomed a resolution passed by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) seeking to extend the implementation of the of Delhi Laws (Special Provision) Act, 2006, by two years.
In a statement issued to the media CAIT leaders justified the MCD's observations of the civic body's Standing Committee, and urged the Union Government to extend date.
They also appealed the Government to give legalffect to MCD resolution immediately as the last date of May 19, 2007 was approaching fast.
CAIT also said the Supreme Court was correct in seeking an update on the Master Plan - Delhi - 2021, given the glaring failures of two earlier Master Plans.
Trade body leaders said that they would be organising a 'Traders Panchayat" on the sealing issue on May 12. Invitations have also been extended to legislators and municipal councillors of Delhi for the event, the CAIT statement said.
