Srinagar, May 8 : Spiritual guru Shri Shri Ravi Shankar, who is on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, today paid obeisance at three famous shrines here, including Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom.

The founder of the Art of Living said he was deeply touched by the warm welcome he received here and wished to meet people of different sections of the society in the Valley.

Immediately after his arrival here, he visited the shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom, Sharika Devi temple and Chattipadshahi gurudwara and prayed for the return of peace in the state.

Shankar also met militants and under-trials in the high-security Kotbalwal Jail, which houses over 300 foreign mercenaries and militants to spread the message of peace. He also visited migrant camps in the city.

He is also likely to meet separatist leaders and intellectuals at a peace conclave organised by him at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Complex to stress on restoration of peace in the state.

He also visited the government middle school, Shivpora, and formally adopted it to upgrade the facilities there.

This is spiritual guru's second visit to the state. He had last visited the Kashmir Valley in June 2005.
