New Delhi, May 7 : The 2005 Gujarat fake encounter case in which three IPS officers have been arrested, rocked both the Houses of the Parliament today with the Left, the Congress and the Samajwadi parties attacking the BJP for trying to shield Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
In the Lok Sabha, Congress and Left MPs demanded Modi's resignation to which BJP members raised the issue of killings in Nandigram.
There was utter chaos in the din and in spite of Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee's repeated assurances, the members refused to sit down.
The constant sloganeering led Chatterjee to adjourn the House till noon.
The scene in Rajya Sabha was no different, as treasury bench members raised the issue of the fake encounter and demanded discussion on it as soon as the Question Hour began in the House.
Congress and Samajwadi Party members demanded dismissal of the Gujarat government and immediate arrest of Modi.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat urged the members to raise the issue during the Zero-Hour.
However, BJP leaders tried to counter the Congress' attack by raising the issue of the US Senators' letter to Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in which they asked India to sever its military ties with Iran.
