Human trafficking kingpin Rasheed, who had surrendered on Thursday, has reportedly named several politicians in the scam during his interrogation.
Hyderabad, May 4 : Human trafficking kingpin Rasheed, who had surrendered on Thursday, has reportedly named several politicians in the scam during his interrogation.
According to some reports, Rasheed has named - Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP and former Union Minister Narender Alle, former TDP State Minister Kistappa, former TDP MP Sugana Kumari and former TDP Minister K Ramakanth - allegedly being involved in the scam.
Rasheed has alleged that he had paid Rs 11 lakh to Narendra for sending five Gujarati women to the United States.
He has also named co-accused Shakeel as a major player in the human trafficking chain.
He alleged that he paid an undisclosed amount to Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) MLA Kasipeta Lingaiah, who is now in judicial custody in connection with the case.
Rasheed has claimed innocence and alleged that there was threat to his life from the political leaders.
Meanwhile, the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate has remanded Rasheed to judicial custody till May 18.
The magistrate also remanded Muzaffar Ali Khan, a former TDP corporator to judicial custody for 14 days. Muzaffar Khan was arrested on Thursday night on charges of providing shelter and financial assistance to Rasheed.
Rasheed's name figured in the case after the arrest of Gujarat BJP MP Babubhai Katara, who was caught travelling with a woman and a boy on his wife and son's passport.
Rasheed is being interrogated by a team of Central Crime Station police.
Meanwhile, the police conducted searches at the residence of Rasheed and his relatives on Thursday night and recovered six passports and some other incriminating documents.
A Delhi Police team is likely to interrogate Rasheed in Hyderabad in connection with the Babubhai Katara case.
