All India Minorities Front alleges violation of model code of conduct

The All India Minorities Front today alleged that the model code of conduct is being violated by political parties with impunity in Gorakahpur where the last phase of UP elections will be held on May 8.

Gorakahpur (UP), May 4 : The All India Minorities' Front today alleged that the model code of conduct is being violated by political parties with impunity in Gorakahpur where the last phase of UP elections will be held on May 8.

Addressing a rally here, National President of AIMF S. M. Asif said that free and fair poll would not be possible unless the Election Commission takes immediate step to curb the musclemen and money power.

"Voters are being threatened by the musclemen directing them to cast their votes in favour of particular candidates. Despite prohibition of displaying photographs of candidates along with the parties' flags, such flags can be seen fluttering in many lanes and bye lanes in Gorakhpur. The law enforcement authorities have not taken any action against those who have breached the law," Asif said.
