The Congress party today suspended Shahpur legislator Vijay Singh Mankotia for accusing Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh of corruption.

New Delhi, May 29 : The Congress party today suspended Shahpur legislator Vijay Singh Mankotia for accusing Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh of corruption.

Mankotia, a fourth term MLA from Shahpur in Kangra District, has been suspended with immediate effect for in anti-party activities.

The announcement was made by All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi .

On Monday, Mankotia had released an audio cassette and a CD in Dharamsala supposedly containing voices of Singh and his wife Pratibha Singh, also a Member of Parliament.

The audio allegedly indicated some 'business deal' in support of the corruption charges levelled against the CM.

Earlier, Mankotia had urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi to conduct a judicial inquiry into the assets possessed by the Himachal CM.

Mankotia demanded the immediate sacking of the CM if found guilty of accepting commissions from industrialists.
