One killed in Quetta blast

At least one person was killed and another seriously injured in a powerful bomb blast in the parking lot of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) office here late on Sunday night, police said.

Quetta, May 28 : At least one person was killed and another seriously injured in a powerful bomb blast in the parking lot of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) office here late on Sunday night, police said.

Hamidullah, 60, a security guard with a private company, died on the spot while another guard, Mullah Dad, was injured, DIG Operations Rehmatullah Niazi told the Dawn.

Dad has been admitted to the Quetta Civil Hospital.

The bomb planted in a Suzuki van, completely destroyed it and other vehicles parked nearby. The SSGC building was also damaged.

In another incident, a home-made bomb was thrown into Councillor Aziz Qureshi's house, but his son immediately threw it out of the house.

The bomb exploded on the road injuring police constable Tahir-ul-Hasan, who was passing by the area.

Meanwhile, police on Sunday impounded a car rigged with 25 kilograms of highly explosive material parked near the official residences of Khuzdar District Coordination Officer and District Police Officer.

"The car was rigged with high explosives to blow up residences of government officials," Kalat Range DIG Ghulam Shabir was quoted as saying by the daily at a press conference.
