UAE, India discuss security-related cooperation

A seven-member delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), led by their Under Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Lt. General Saif Abdulla Al-Shaafar, held discussions with an Indian delegation, led by Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta here today.

New Delhi, May 28 : A seven-member delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), led by their Under Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Lt. General Saif Abdulla Al-Shaafar, held discussions with an Indian delegation, led by Union Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta here today.

Issues of security-related co-operation between India and UAE were discussed during the meeting which lasted over an hour.

Both sides agreed to move forward meaningfully in this direction.

The delegation will now be having further detailed discussions with the concerned officers and agencies in the Government of India to work out details of agreements and institutional arrangements to carry forward this co-operation.

The UAE delegation also called on Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil.
