A CBI court today sentenced former Sikkim Chief Minister Nar Bahadur Bhandari to one month in jail in a disproportionate assets case.

New Delhi, May 28 : A CBI court today sentenced former Sikkim Chief Minister Nar Bahadur Bhandari to one month in jail in a disproportionate assets case.

The court also fined Bhandari Rs 5000.

The judgement comes after 13 years of legal battle, as the central investigative agency had filed the chargesheet in September 1994, charging Bhandari of misusing his position as the Chief Minister of the State during mid eighties and acquiring assets worth Rs 15.22 lakh disproportionate to his known sources of income.

However, he was granted bail today after he furnished a personal bond of Rs 25,000.
