People from all walks of life are paying tribute to the countrys first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on the 43rd anniversary of his death on Sunday.

New Delhi, May 27 : People from all walks of life are paying tribute to the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on the 43rd anniversary of his death on Sunday.

Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Congress president Sonia Gandhi were among those who offered floral tributes at his memorial-- Shanti Van --on the banks of river Yamuna here.

An all-religion prayer was also organised at the memorial to the departed leader.

Nehru died at the age of 74 in Delhi after leading the country from August 15, 1947 to May 27, 1964 for 17 as the Prime Minister.
