Mumbai, May 26 : A crucial meeting of the Maharashtra unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is going on at Goregaon, in which major organisational changes are likely to be considered.

NCP president Sharad Pawar, who just came back from a tour of Sri Lanka, is addressing the meeting. The meeting will last till 6:00 p.m.

The party might ask Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, who belongs to the NCP, to step down from the post.

Party's office bearers have refused to comment on this issue.

Senior party members are expressing concern about reported factionalism in the district party units.

The NCP is contesting the May 27 municipal polls in Malegaon and Bhinwadi on its own, party sources said.
