Mulayam was deliberately hostile towards Centre: Mayawati

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today said that previous Mulayam Singh Yadav Government had deliberately adopted a hostile relationship towards the Centre.

New Delhi, May 26 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today said that previous Mulayam Singh Yadav Government had deliberately adopted a hostile relationship towards the Centre.

"Because of this hostile relationship, the development work in UP remained stopped and all ways to receive resources were blocked," Mayawati claimed after her first meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Mammohan Singh since becoming Chief Minister.

She said she had apprised the Prime Minister about the ground realities in the state and sought his help in areas such fertilisers, urban development, tourism, power, airport and finance.

Mayawati also urged Dr. Singh to give his nod to the stalled International Airport project near Aligarh and Varanasi-Delhi expressway. The airport project was conceived during her last tenure as CM.

Keeping in view its proximity to Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor Project, the airport will have a vital role to play in the industrial development of the state.

She did not make any comment on the Presidential election.

Meanwhile, talks are doing the round that Mayawati has extended her party's support to the Congress's candidate for the position of President.
