Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police today said timer devices could have been used to detonate three low-intensity bombs that were late last evening in Gorakhpur.

Gorakhpur (UP), May 23 : Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police today said timer devices could have been used to detonate three low-intensity bombs that were late last evening in Gorakhpur.

Timer devices could have been used to set off the three blasts, Senior Superintendent of Police R K Rai said.

Meanwhile, the city is observing a shut down.

The UP Police have recovered 10 kilograms of explosives and 20 litres of ammonium nitrate from Faizabad Railway Station.

The Union Home Ministry is in constant touch with the State Government and has sought details about the blasts.

The first blast took place near Baldev Plaza, the second near Ganesh hotel and the third at Jalkal Building.

According to preliminary reports, the bombs were kept inside lunch boxes in scooters and a bicycle.

Security has been beefed up along the Indo-Nepal border.
