Hundreds of freshwater fish were found dead under mysterious circumstances at a pond in Kolkata.
Kolkata, May 23 : Hundreds of freshwater fish were found dead under mysterious circumstances at a pond in Kolkata.
Morning walkers reported the incident to the authorities after they found the pond replete with dead fish.
Local residents suspected a foul play saying several people frequented the pond for fishing everyday despite a recent ban.
"When we came in the morning we saw that fish were dead. People were covering their nose because of the stench. A number of people come here to catch the fish. So I think there must be some problem...like a foul play," said Sovan Sinha.
The pond is located inside a police complex in Alipore locality.
Officials so far have refused to respond when contacted.
