New Delhi, May 18 : V Radhika Selvi, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Member of Parliament from Tiruchendur in Tamil Nadu, was sworn in as the Minister of State in the Home Ministry on Friday.
President A P J Abdul Kalam administered the oath of office and secrecy to Selvi at a brief function in the Ashoka Hall of Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, other Cabinet members and Selvi's relatives were present at the ceremony.
Selvi's induction follows developments in the DMK in the wake of the resignation of Union Minister for Communication and Information Technology Dayanidhi Maran form the Cabinet on Sunday night.
DMK decided to have Maran removed on charges that he betrayed the party's first family that of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi.
