Minorities front urges people to maintain communal harmony

The All India Minorities Front today condemned the bomb blast in the historic Mecca Masjid at Hyderabad, and urged people to maintain communal harmony.

New Delhi, May 18 : The All India Minorities' Front today condemned the bomb blast in the historic Mecca Masjid at Hyderabad, and urged people to maintain communal harmony.

AIMF national president SM Asif said in a statement the blast was a crude attempt on the part of anti-nationals to disturb communal harmony at the behest of some "external enemies".

"It has international link and is an intentional sabotage," he added.

He blamed the Central and Andhra Pradesh intelligence agencies of failing to alert the concerned authorities to take preventive measures to avert the incident.

The minorities' front further demanded proper treatments and other assistance to the affected families of the blast, which claimed five lives and injured around 35 others, including two children.

The blast occurred inside the Mecca Masjid, about 10 meters from Charminar, at around 1.30 p.m. when the area was crowded, as thousands had gathered to offer their Friday prayers.
