Human trafficking case: Katara to be produced in court today

Suspended BJP MP Babubhai Katara and four other accused in the human trafficking case will appear before a Delhi court, as their judicial custody gets over today.

New Delhi, May 18 : Suspended BJP MP Babubhai Katara and four other accused in the human trafficking case will appear before a Delhi court, as their judicial custody gets over today.

The accused are Katara's aide Rajender Gampa, betel shop owner Sunderlal Yadav, Paramjeet Kaur, who was arrested with Katara and Kiran Dhar, who allegedly trained women flying out illegally on how to conduct themselves before the immigration authorities.

During investigations by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police, the names of four more MPs cropped up as suspects - Mitrasen Yadav, Ashok Rawat and Mohammed Tahir Khan of Bahujan Samaj Party and Ramswaroop Koli of Bharatiya Janata Party.

The names of these MPs surfaced during the police interrogation of Sunder Lal Yadav, the alleged kingpin in the high profile case.

The prime suspect in the case, Rasheed, a city-based travel agent and his associate Muzaffar Ali, a former TDP corporator will also appear before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Hyderabad as their judicial remand ended today.

The names of several politicians from different parties have tumbled out of the closet during the interrogation of Rasheed, who went into hiding when the scam was unearthed with the arrest of Katara.

Though police have not made these names public, it is understood that Rasheed has mentioned several MPs, MLAs and former ministers belonging to the TRS and TDP.

Interestingly, Rasheed was arrested in a fake passport case in 2003.The case, involving some high profile people, surfaced last month with the arrest of Katara at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. He was taking one Paramjeet to Canada on his wife Sarada Ben's passport.
