Congress attempting to change Goas demographic profile: BJP

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today charged the Congress Party of trying to use the recently shelved Goa Regional Plan 2011 to pursue a divisive agenda of fomenting social tensions in the state.

Panaji (Goa), May 18 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today charged the Congress Party of trying to use the recently shelved Goa Regional Plan 2011 to pursue a divisive agenda of fomenting social tensions in the state.

BJP National Spokesperson and State Incharge of Goa, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, said the Goa Regional Plan had a "much deeper and nefarious long term divisive design", laying the foundation of ethnic division for posterity in Goa.

Rudy said the Goa Regional Plan 2011 was not a development programme but a "Goa Disaster Plan 2011".

"The plan was created with a multi pronged strategy of filling the coffers of the Congress Party on the one hand, and on the other hand also fulfilling the long term strategy of greed in Goa.

Rudy said that there was distinct evidence of the involvement of the Congress leadership of prompting change in the demographic profile.

"This unfortunate strategy had been successfully encouraged and followed by the Congress Party in many states such as Bihar, West Bengal, Assam and other states in the north east region," he said.

Rudy said the people of Goa deserved national recognition and some of the state's alert citizens have successfully forced the government to put on hold the Goa Regional Plan 2011.
