Congress Party representatives of Assam, led by Bhubaneshwar Kalita, President Assam Pradesh Congress Committee and Himanta Biswa Sarma and Members of Parliament from Assam led by Santosh Mohan Deb , Union Minister called on the Prime Minister Dr. Mammohan Singh here today to congratulate him on his re-eelection to the Rajya Sabha.

New Delhi, May 18 : Congress Party representatives of Assam, led by Bhubaneshwar Kalita, President Assam Pradesh Congress Committee and Himanta Biswa Sarma and Members of Parliament from Assam led by Santosh Mohan Deb , Union Minister called on the Prime Minister Dr. Mammohan Singh here today to congratulate him on his re-eelection to the Rajya Sabha.

The Prime Minister thanked the people of Assam for once again supporting him and renewing their trust in him. The Prime Minister said that it has been an honour to represent Assam in the Rajya Sabha since 1991.

In the past three years representatives form various states had offered to elect the rime Minister to Parliament. He, however, chose to remain faithful to his adopted state of Assam, the Prime Minister said.

He asked the representatives calling on him to convey his best wishes to all MLAs and the people of Assam.
