SC grants bail to Monica Bedi in forged passport case

The Supreme Court today granted bail to Monica Bedi, former Bollywood actress and companion of underworld don Abu Salem, in connection with a forged passport case.

New Delhi, May 17 : The Supreme Court today granted bail to Monica Bedi, former Bollywood actress and companion of underworld don Abu Salem, in connection with a forged passport case.

Bedi had filed a bail application in connection with the case, registered against her in Bhopal by the Madhya Pradesh Police for securing a passport on forged documents in the name of Fauzia.

Bedi has been charged with fraud, forgery and under different sections of the Passport Act.

She has already been sentenced to five years' imprison in another forged passport case.

Bedi had undergone two years prison term in Portugal for the same offence before being extradited.

Presently, Bedi is lodged in a Hyderabad jail where CBI had registered a case against her for possessing a passport on forged documents in the name of Sana Malik.

Bedi and Abu Salem were both extradited from Portugal on November 11, 2005.
