The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for mutual assistance for trade felicitation and goods transport with various countries that included Russia Federation, Republic of South Africa and Brazil.

New Delhi, May 17 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for mutual assistance for trade felicitation and goods transport with various countries that included Russia Federation, Republic of South Africa and Brazil.

The ex-post-facto approval for signing a protocol for Exchange of Information on movement of goods and conveyances between India and the Russian Federation would help in accomplishing the objectives of trade facilitation and better enforcement, through electronic exchange of customs data and to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of customs administration by faster customs clearance of goods and conveyances moved between the countries.

Similarly, an agreement for cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters with South Africa and Brazil would help in the availability of reliable, quick and cost-effective information and intelligence for the prevention and investigation of Customs offences and apprehending of Customs offenders.

The Cabinet also gave its approval for concluding a Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement (BIPA) with Mexico.
