Cabinet approves National Policy on Voluntary Sector

The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for National Policy on the Voluntary Sector, whose main objective is to create an environment for the Voluntary Organisations (VOs) in order to stimulate their effectiveness and to protect their identity.

New Delhi, May 17 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for National Policy on the Voluntary Sector, whose main objective is to create an environment for the Voluntary Organisations (VOs) in order to stimulate their effectiveness and to protect their identity.

The policy would also enable VOs to legitimately mobilize the necessary financial resources from India and abroad and would identify systems by which the Government may work together with the voluntary sector.

The National Policy on the voluntary sector aims to provide an enabling environment for the voluntary sector and also make it accountable, so that VOs can play their constructive role in development activities effectively, the government release stated.
