BJP sending its MPs personal assistants on refresher course

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reportedly decided to send personal assistants (PA) attached with its Members of Parliament (MP) for refresher courses on parliamentary decorum, rules and procedures.

New Delhi, May 15 : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reportedly decided to send personal assistants (PA) attached with its Members of Parliament (MP) for refresher courses on parliamentary decorum, rules and procedures.

A BJP source, not wanting to be named, said this step was being taken in the wake the several scams dogging the party such as the Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) fund scam and the human trafficking scam.

The source said the personal assistants are being sent to a place near to Mumbai, where Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) think tank would impart the required training.

Recently, Babubhai Katara, a party MP in the Lok Sabha from Gujarat, was arrested on the charges of illegally taking out a woman and his son on his wife and son's passport to Canada.

Last year some of the party's MPs were suspended from the Parliament on their involvement in cash-for-query scam, in which the MPs allegedly took money to raise questions in the Parliament.

The MPs who were involved in the scam were M K Annasaheb Patil, Y G Mahajan, Pradeep Gandhi, Chandra Pratap Singh, and Suresh Chandel.

In an another scam of MPLAD scheme, Fagan Singh Kulaste, a party MP in the Lok Sabha, was found to be involved in corruption in allotting work for the scheme.
