Lucknow, May 13 : With Mayawati returning to the helm of affairs in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, administrative circles are witnessing a hustle and bustle of activity.

Several previously halted projects are being restarted to please the new political dispensation.

An unusual enthusiasm to present a good report card is evident in the fresh vigour shown towards various projects, especially the ones inaugurated by Mayawati when she was last chief minister in 2001-2002.

Multi-crore projects like the Ambedkar Park and the Ambedkar Udyan, which were launched by Mayawati in Lucknow, are being spruced up by the administration. Both of these projects were forgotten during the tenure of the Mulayam regime.

With various exit polls and the final result indicating a BSP wave, the message went through "Behenji's development projects needed attention."

"We are cleaning it so that tomorrow nobody says that the work is not done properly or is done wrong. Munshi Ji keeps telling us as what to do," said a labourer working round the clock at the Ambedkar Park in Lucknow.

Officials seem to be in a hurry to finish up the work.

"From morning till evening we are working here. We whitewash, paint and even the stone work is also happening simultaneously. Work on the lawn had been going on since the beginning," said another worker.

Mayawati took the oath of office on Sunday. Her party, the BSP emerged the single largest party winning 206 seats of the total 402 seats in the State elections.

The 51-year-old Jatav Dalit leader will assume reins of power for a fourth time. etter late than never is what almost all the administrators opine!
