Mayawati for UP Brahmin as President, Sonia likely PM by August: website

If a website report is anything to go by, Congress President and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is likely to become Prime Minister by August 2007.

New Delhi, May 13 : If a website report is anything to go by, Congress President and the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is likely to become Prime Minister by August 2007.

"Sonia has a simple game plan. She wants to install a 100 per cent loyalist as the country's President. After the President is sworn-in July, in August she will be sworn as the PM. She will then reward incumbent Prime Minister Manmohan Singh by installing him as the next Vice-President of the country," the politicsparty.com website said.

According to the website, however, Sonia'a plans for installing a 'Dalit' president, in the form of Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde, are coming unstuck as Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister (CM)-elect Mayawati wants a UP Brahmin to become the next President.

Keeping the next Lok Sabha elections in her mind she is gearing up to win the hearts of the upper caste electorate in her home state.

"By installing a Brahmin as the President of India, Mayawati wants to send out feelers to Brahmins in the entire cow belt to trust and accept her as the vehicle to bring back the Brahmins to Central Power," the website said.

The names of UP Brahmins doing the rounds are former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Congress Stalwart N D Tiwari and Karnataka Governor T N Chaturvedi.

Congressmen Tiwari is a Uttrakhand Brahmin, but Sonia does not trust him, suspecting him of hobnobbing with anti-Sonia elements.

Madhya Pradesh Brahmin Vajpayee has been elected to the Lok Sabha from the Lucknow constituency, but will not get the support of Congress's allies and their Communist comrades.

Chaturvedi is a UP Brahmin and is widely respected as an intellectual administrator and for his excellent non-partisan performance of duties, the website said.
