"Caring for the disadvantaged and generation of sustainable livelihoods have been priorities for our Government. Today, the mechanisms are in place for investors to participate in creating a better and brighter Rajasthan. Rajasthan offers opportunities like none other", said Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje at the inaugural ceremony of India Festival 2007, in Dubai, UAE.
Chief Minister Raje formally inaugurated the festival by cutting the ceremonial ribbon, followed by a traditional welcome ceremony, in the presence of hundreds of Non Resident Indian, the cream of the business community of UAE, diplomats and other dignitaries. Mr. Mohammed Al Murr, Chairman, Dubai Cultural Council, Dr. Salah El Quassim, Secretary General, Dubai Cultural Council, Mr. Gulab Kothari, Editor, Rajasthan Patrika were present on the occasion.
In her inaugural address, Smt Raje highlighted the progress made in Rajasthan in various sectors ranging from financial management, accelerating development of power, improving connectivity to social security and justice in the last 3 years. Such development along with proactive policy interventions has led to Rajasthan being among the premier investment destinations in India. She invited both Non resident Indians and Foreign business houses to invest in Rajasthan- the most peaceful, law abiding and healthy destination in the country.
Speaking to an array of business leaders, Raje made specific mention of how Public Private Partnerships are successfully working in hers state in myriad areas like roads, energy, health care, education, water and food security. She talked at length about the policy to promote private investment in health care facilities and said that the state was looking at investments over Rs. 2000 crores in this sector alone. She also mentioned the new Integrated Township Policy, The new Hotel Policy and the State Biofuel policy as instruments aimed at boosting investor confidence and at the same time safeguarding the interests of the disadvantaged segments of the society. She also went on to say that it is time when other destinations learned from Dubai, where through vision and energy to implement the dreams, Dubai attracts the highest number of tourists in the world.
The India Festival 2007 Dubai, is the first of its kind organized by Rajasthan Patrika in the Emirates. It has provided a platform for showcasing the best of goods and services produced in India. Pointing this out, Raje was in full praise of Mr. Gulab Kothari and his team for having made excellent arrangements. She also took time out to visit the various pavilions and meet the investors and visitors.
Smt. Raje was felicitated by non resident Rajasthanis, represented by their many associations in Dubai as well as prominent Rajasthani residents of Dubai. They univocally praised her role as a leader and statesman, leading Rajasthan to the vanguard of Indian states.
